Greetings from Marion Military Institute
Marion Military Institute (MMI) is the nation's oldest military preparatory school and junior college. With its origin dating back to 1842, the Institute has achieved a national reputation for developing young men and women into successful and prominent citizens and military professionals. The educational program is designed to challenge and develop the cadets' intellectual potential while simultaneously nurturing and fostering the development of personal values that include character, integrity, and judgment. Likewise, the faculty and staff strive to inculcate leadership, social, and physical skills among the Corps of Cadets.
Students from all over the nation and many foreign countries attend MMI to take advantage of the structured learning environment wherein cadets are exposed to the importance of self-discipline, time management, and organization. Additionally, the cadets develop a patriotic sense of duty and appreciation for honorable service to their fellow man. The faculty and staff at Marion Military Institute insist that cadets work and achieve at or near their God-given abilities. Excellence is stressed in all that the cadets do including academics, athletics, and the military skill development inherent in the educational program.
The military program at MMI is not the "end state" of the educational process - it is the "means to the end." However, we are confident that the Institute changes the way our cadets think about their future. They leave Marion as better citizens with an appreciation for hard work, honorable service, and a disciplined lifestyle.
