Welcome to the Office of Institutional Advancement
(L to R) Susanna Barnes, Vanessa Nicholson, Laura Dunfee, Suzanne McKee, Marietta Holmes, Dawn Curtis
What is Advancement? Glad you asked! We are a dynamic team of professionals who lead MMI’s efforts for fundraising and development, alumni affairs, communications and public relations, scholarship management, strategic engagement, and government affairs. Whew! Sounds like a lot, right? That answer is YES! We’re all either talking on the phone, writing, traveling, creating, designing, planning…just lots of “strategery” in general…but always starting with a brainstorming session first thing in the morning over hot cups of coffee.
Seriously though, our mission is broad, but our focus is very clear. We do all we can do to inspire commitment, engagement, and opportunities to advance the mission of MMI. Explore our pages to learn more.
Ask me about being an MMI mom…twice, RSvP, and my hometown of Faunsdale.
If I were a cadet, you would find me in the band room.
Favorite part my job is working with an incredible Advancement team and hearing every day from alumni who say MMI made them who they are today!
Ask me about small farm life and wildlife habitat living.
If I were a cadet, you would find me vying for a place on the ethics bowl team or onstage with the drama club!
Favorite part my job is realizing how proud I am to say I work for Marion Military Institute.
Ask me about animal rescue and planning themed parties.
If I were a cadet, you would find me planning the class prank.
Favorite part of my job is knowing that I am a part of a 175-year legacy of educating tomorrow’s leaders.
Ask me about 1SG Dunfee!
If I were a cadet, you would find me in class daydreaming about 1SG Dunfee!
Favorite part of my job is getting to see 1SG Dunfee!
Ask me about seafood recipes and historical fiction novels.
If I were a cadet, you would find me cheering in the 6th Man section at basketball games.
Favorite part of my job is watching MMI families celebrate graduation day with their cadets.
Ask me about the 2 “mini-ponies” living inside my house.
If I were a cadet, you would find me crying …I am not that tough!
Favorite part of my job is finding wonderful pieces of MMI’s history in the archives room.
