MMI Signs Aviation Agreement with Auburn University
Marion Military Institute (MMI) is proud to announce a new aviation partnership with Auburn University (AU). On Nov. 8, AU President Dr. Christopher Roberts hosted a signing ceremony on campus for the new Aviation Student Matriculation agreement, effective January 1, 2024. This agreement will allow MMI to act as a feeder school for AU’s Professional Flight and Aviation Management programs. By taking appropriate classes identified in the state’s STARS system, MMI graduates can seamlessly transfer to AU with standing as a junior. Apart from the approved transfer curriculum and having earned a minimum 2.5 GPA, candidates must have obtained their Private Pilot’s License while at MMI.
“This new aviation program transfer agreement with Auburn University, along with our new partnership with a flight training provider, will now allow MMI to finally realize our vision of a formal MMI aviation program to produce pilots and aviation professionals to help meet the needs of the civil aviation sector,” noted MMI President COL David Mollahan, USMC (Ret).
MMI, the nation’s oldest military junior college, operates its own extracurricular FAA-sanctioned Flight Training Program, offering both military and civil aviation tracks, whereby cadets can earn up to an FAA commercial pilot’s license. Learn more at MarionMilitary.edu/fly.
