Marion Made Day Honors Founder COL J.T. Murfee

On October 4, the entire MMI Corps of Cadets, faculty and staff celebrated "Marion Made Day," remembering Oct. 4, 1887 as the first day of classes as "Marion Military Institute" under COL J.T. Murfee, our founder and 1st president. To mark the occasion, an aerial group shot of all cadets and employees was in order. Afterwards, a select group of cadets and our 16th President, COL David J. Mollahan, USMC (Ret), conducted a remembrance ceremony at Murfee's grave in Marion Cemetery. The rest of the afternoon was spent rotating through the Legends Tour, our history lesson for the day.
