MMI Forms Golf Course Association, Launches Membership Drive
MMI Golf Course Association Announces Membership Drive, Reduced Fees
Marion Military Institute (MMI) is proud to announce a partnership with the local golfing community in the newly-formed MMI Golf Course Association, chaired by Mr. Alexander Avery. On June 1, MMI began a drive to expand its golf membership base to bring renewed vitality to the course and its players. First and foremost, the previous $400 Initiation Fee for new members has been eliminated. New members will be able to join simply by paying their monthly dues of $45, which includes unlimited play. Members can pay online at support.marionmilitary.edu/golf or set up recurring membership payments through Brandon Taylor in the MMI Alumni Office: 334-683-2350.
Cart rentals for members have been reduced to $5 for nine holes and $10 for 18 holes. Members who bring their own carts will no longer be charged an additional fee.
Non-members & guests will pay a flat greens fee whether it is weekday or weekend play: $10 for nine holes, $15 for 18 holes, $20 for 27 holes, and $25 for 36 holes. An honor system drop box on the first hole will accept fees with a tear-off envelope.
“If you haven’t played the Marion course lately, I urge you to come out and see for yourself the improvements that have been made.” remarked Avery. “You will be pleasantly surprised how well the course looks and plays. We are very encouraged by the progress that has been made, and the transformation from one year ago is remarkable. I ask you to join the Association today to take part in making the course an attraction for locals and visitors.”
In addition, a new Golf Course Association Fund has been created within the MMI Foundation. Tax-deductible contributions can now be made to this fund, which is restricted for golf course improvements. These improvements will be guided by recommendations from the officers of the MMI Golf Association. Any payments above the monthly amount of $45 or cart rental fees will be treated as tax-deductible donations to the golf course. With community support, MMI will continue to transform this course into one that attracts golfers from throughout the region.
The MMI Golf Course Association hopes to see you at one of their Thursday scrambles, beginning at 5:00 PM. Call the pro shop at 334-683-2178 for more information.
