Montalvo Competes for Puerto Rico Hockey

"I recently had the incredible opportunity to play for the Puerto Rican Women's Ice Hockey National Team as they competed abroad in Sao Paulo Brazil for the International Ice Hockey Federation (IIHF) Championship 3v3 Series. There, I competed against several National teams in the South American division (where I scored the first goal of the tournament!). After a series of wins, we moved on to the semifinals where we played undefeated team Argentina. After a highly competitive game, we took home silver and made history as the first time Team Puerto Rico played in an international championship. Our names and Jersey are now forever preserved in the Ice Hockey Hall of Fame in Toronto Canada. Shortly after the competition, I was invited to skate with the newly established West Point women's Hockey team. I am extremely honored for this opportunity and grateful for all the love and support from my MMI family." -Cadet Maya Montalvo
