Service Learning at Marion Academy

On 12 November 2016, MMI’s Service Leaders Club conducted a Day of Service at Marion Academy.  Club leaders previously met with Marion Academy Principal Mr. Ben Miller, who is a 1971 MMI alumnus, to coordinate this and future service projects.  On Saturday, 20 MMI Cadets spent their morning cleaning the inside and outside of the school.  Taking advantage of the nice weather, the Cadets cleaned the interior of the school, picked up trash, removed an old wood pile and a very large quantity of leaves and tree branches.  This work will provide the students a nicer and safer school environment. 

Future projects include tutoring programs in Math, Reading and Reading Comprehension for Marion Academy students. A special mention is also made for the participation of Mr. Dan Sumlin, Mr. Brian Hale, and Mr. Sam Huston, from MMI’s Facilities Department, for their work and assistance.  Mr. Miller wanted to thank everyone involved in this project and to emphasize that the school is looking forward to future collaboration with MMI.
