Speaker Mike Hubbard Visits MMI
MARION – On April 1, Mike Hubbard, Speaker of the Alabama House of Representatives, traveled to Marion to serve as a distinguished guest speaker for Marion Military Institute (MMI). Mr. Hubbard began his day by touring the President’s Quarters before addressing the college’s Corps of Cadets, faculty and
staff in the historic Chapel (c. 1857).
Using examples from his own political career, Mr. Hubbard touched on the topic of professional ethics, reminding cadets to always listen to their conscience when faced with difficult decisions. “You are Building your reputation, right now,” he noted.
Mr. Hubbard (R-Auburn) has represented Alabama’s 79th district since 1998. In addition to his legislative service, he served two terms as Chairman of the Alabama Republican Party. During his tenure as Chairman, Republicans won all statewide offices and gained control of both houses of the legislature for the first time in 136 years. He also serves as President of Auburn Network, Inc., a media
and marketing company.
Accompanying Mr. Hubbard on the campus visit was his longtime friend Mr. Jimmy Rane, CEO of Great Southern Wood Preserving, and MMI benefactor.
