Alumnus Raymond Shields ’83 promoted to Major General

LATHAM, N.Y. >> Saratoga Springs resident Raymond Shields, a veteran of the War in Afghanistan, was promoted to two-star Major General in the New York Army National Guard on Thursday during a ceremony at the Division of Military and Naval Affairs headquarters.

Shields, who joined the Army Reserve in 1981, has served as the commander of the 10,300 soldiers of the New York Army National Guard since June 2016. ...  Originally published in Saratogian, 8.12.17
