MMI & Judson Join Forces with American Collegiate Horsemen’s Association Chapters

On December 11th 2017, Colonel David Mollahan, President of MMI and Dr. Scott Bullard, Senior Vice President and Academic Dean of Judson College, signed a Memorandum of Agreement establishing a partnership between the school’s newly formed chapters of the American Collegiate Horsemen’s Association (ACHA). Cadet Zachary Jones had the vision of establishing an equestrian club on campus.  An avid horsemen, Cadet Jones sought opportunities to ride around the region while at school.  Inspired by the Texas A&M “Parson’s Mounted Cavalry” he put together the concept, found sponsors and gained approval from the school for the establishment of MMI’s very first “Cavalry.” MMI’s Calvary – “Murfee's Own” – will provide an opportunity for cadets who already know how to ride to further refine their skills, hand in hand with their sister ACHA chapter at Judson, under the tutelage of Judson’s renowned equestrian department.  In addition to advancing their ridership skills, sharing in fellowship with other riders, the goal of MMI’s Calvary is to field a mounted color guard for Corps parades and other events. This agreement also marks another step in creating “new traditions” between Judson and MMI, continuing the long history of collaboration, cooperation and partnership between our two historic and unique colleges. MMI staffers Cindy Meisenheimer, Eva Painter, and Dawn Curtis have graciously stepped up to be the club’s sponsors.
