USAA CEO Stuart Parker to deliver 2016 Commencement Address
Marion Military Institute (MMI) is proud to host alumnus and USAA CEO Stuart Parker as its 2016 Commencement Speaker on Saturday, May 7 at 10:00 am. He will address an audience of graduating cadets, their families, and faculty/staff in the William R. Ireland Athletic Center. USAA is one of the nation’s largest financial services providers with a focus on serving the military community.
Mr. Parker holds a bachelor’s degree in business administration from Valdosta State University, his hometown alma mater, where he was a distinguished graduate from the Air Force ROTC program. On the evening of May 7, he will deliver his second commencement address of the day on their campus in Georgia.
He also holds an MBA in finance from St. Mary’s University and the Certified Financial Planner certification.
Since joining USAA in 1998, Mr. Parker has served in various executive roles within the company, to include president of Financial Planning Services, leading their Property and Casualty Insurance Group, chief financial officer, and chief operating officer before becoming chief executive officer in February 2015. Founded by military officers in 1922, USAA is a Fortune 150 company that provides insurance, banking, investments, retirement products and advice to 11 million current and former members of the U.S. military and their families. Headquartered in San Antonio, Texas, with offices throughout the United States and Europe, USAA owns or manages assets of $213 billion.
Prior to his civilian career, Mr. Parker served in the U.S. Air Force for nearly 10 years and flew combat missions during Operations Desert Shield and Desert Storm.
Mr. Parker serves on the board of directors of FM Global, one of the world's largest commercial and industrial property insurers. He is a lifetime member of the Air Force Association, Air Force Sergeants Association, The American Legion, Disabled American Veterans, Military Officers Association of America, and Veterans of Foreign Wars. He is married to Veronica, a former U.S. Air Force nurse, and they have one daughter.
