Dove Shoot & Shotgun Drawing
November 17, 2018
Givhan Land and Cattle Company | 6900 HWY 5 Safford, Alabama
Due to a change Alabama’s dove season, we have had to change the date of the Dove Shoot to Saturday, Nov. 17. This will be the opening day of the second dove season and will allow for cooler weather and football games on the big screen.
Marion Military Institute’s (MMI) premier fund-raising event benefiting the Corps of Cadets. Avid hunters, outdoorsmen, and MMI supporters gather at the pristine grounds of Givhan Land and Cattle Company in Safford for a full day of great hunting, delicious food, and lively fellowship. After the hunt, grab your friends and a cocktail and enjoy the laser simulated clay pigeon shooting range, live music, and football games. In addition to the shotgun drawing, we are proud to offer a Special Auction Item this year, a Kimber SuperAmerica. 308 caliber rifle.

William R. Ireland, Sr. Memorial Shotgun Drawing
The Grand Prize
The Merkel 147 EL side-by-side shotgun is a light and wonderfully elegant hunting gun. Engraving by Mathias Koch features game scenes of quail on both sides of the receiver. Arabesque scroll engraving surrounds these scenes and covers the bottom of the receiver, trigger guard, and operating lever. The English stock is crafted from specially-selected European walnut. This traditional side-by-side gun represents gunmaking at its finest featuring the trademark slim soldiered 28” barrels, improved and modified fixed chokes, the Greener style cross bolt, and single selective trigger. In spite of its beauty, the 147 EL is noted for its strength, so this is a shotgun that you can confidently pass down to the next generation of hunters.
