Delta Regional Authority Awards $400k to MMI’s 1st Responder Program

In June, MMI was awarded $400,000 from the Delta Regional Authority – Workforce Development Program to expand its First Responder Program training capability. The funding will help MMI purchase its own Fire Engine, allowing MMI Fire Cadets to acquire the national Emergency Vehicle Operator and Fire Apparatus: Pumper certifications on site.
“An actual fire truck is an essential training device for MMI’s First Responder Program. Not only does it add the ability to offer two new certifications to our Fire Cadets, it also expands our capacity to assist Marion and other local fire departments which provides real world experience for our cadets. This acquisition represents a tremendous leap forward for our program, and we could not have done it without the Delta Regional Authority and support from the Alabama Fire College,” says COL Ed Passmore, USA (Ret), MMI’s Senior Vice President & Commandant of Cadets.
