Former MMI student-athlete Jonah Todd ’16 drafted by Los Angeles Angels

On June 13, former MMI baseball player Jonah Todd '16 was selected by the Los Angeles Angels in the 6th round of the 2017 MLB Draft. He just completed a stellar season starting as a walk-on at center field & lead-off batter for the Auburn Tigers, where he led the team in hitting (.376 avg), finishing with 13 doubles, five triples and 37 RBIs. In May, he earned All-SEC Second Team and Defensive Team honors. Originally from Birmingport, AL (near Bessemer), he started his baseball career pitching for Oak Grove High school before he was recruited by MMI Head Coach Matt Downs, a former MLB player. "I'm not surprised at all to see him drafted in the 6th round of the draft. He showed us early that he had the ability and mentality to compete at higher levels. I am thrilled for him to have the opportunity to extend his playing career professionally," said Coach Downs.
